Holland State Park

Holland State Park is a great option in Holland for not only one but two beaches.  Enjoy swimming on the sugar sand beach along Lake Michigan with views of the channel as well as the Big Red Lighthouse.  The Lake Michigan side offers a playground for children with a rubberized surface making it easier to access for children of all different mobility levels.  If you happen to forget anything, have no fear head to Beach Place Café and Shop to grab any forgotten items, and be sure to grab a quick snack or ice cream while you are there!

If you prefer a little more tranquility, head to the other side of the park to enjoy the beach and swim in Lake Macatawa.  On the Lake Macatawa side, take a break from swimming and rent a paddleboard, canoe, or kayak at The Macatawa Boat House.  The beach on Lake Macatawa has a designated section of the beach where dogs are allowed, making it the perfect spot to bring the entire family including your four-legged friend for a day full of water, sun, and memories.

Make it an extended stay and enjoy the beach and hiking trails for more than a day when you book a campsite at Holland State Park.  Choose from either the Lake Macatawa Campground with 211 sites and a view of the beautiful Lake Macatawa or stay at the Modern Beach Campground with 98 sites along the Lake Michigan side of the park and let the waves of Lake Michigan lull you to sleep.  Holland State Park is a must-visit beach in Holland!

Tunnel Park

Located at 66 Lakeshore Dr in Holland, Tunnel Park is another fantastic beach in Holland to enjoy Lake Michigan.  This is a smaller beach, but not one to miss!  Swim at your own risk as there are no lifeguards on duty at tunnel park.  The park has a separate playground area for the children to play at, as well as a dune climb to help tire them out.  Other amenities include sand volleyball courts, modern restrooms, multiple separate picnic areas with grills, and seasonal concession stands.  As the sun begins to set be sure to head over to the tunnel through a sand dune which the park is named after, for some stunning photo opportunities.

Laketown Park

Laketown Park is a more laid-back small beach option in Holland that is a little off the beaten path.  This is a beach that you will have to work a bit to get to.  There is a very steep stair climb to the top of the dune and then more stairs to get back down to the beach.  There are no public bathrooms or amenities at Laketown Park so be sure to plan accordingly.  Laketown Park is a popular place for adults to go and enjoy a small beach in Holland.  Children of course are welcomed but be advised that it is an extremely strenuous walk to get to the beach.  Visitors rave about the views from the top of the dunes and say it is the best spot to go for sunsets.

Windsnest Park

A short drive from Holland in West Olive is Windsnest Park, a four-acre park along Lake Michigan with the perfect beach for those looking to enjoy the beach without the crowds that state parks may bring.  Windsnest Park offers ample parking, restrooms, a play area, and of course the beach!  The Park is free to enter and had a full renovation in 2019.  Windsnest park is another fun option for kids and parents alike that are looking to enjoy a Lake Michigan beach in Holland without the crowds.
