Climb Mt Pisgah

Hike to the top of Mt. Pisgah in Holland for some breathtaking views of both Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa and the surrounding areas.  Visitors will embark on a strenuous climb up the paved stairs and path to the top of Mt. Pisgah reaching 157 feet above Lake Michigan!  Grab your hiking shoes and water as this is one thing to do in Holland that you don’t want to miss this summer!

Experience the Coast Guard Festival

Grand Haven, Michigan is known as Coast Guard USA!  The nationally recognized Coast Guard Festival brings visitors from all over the country every year! Take a Dip in Lake Michigan

Head to the lakeshore to get your toes in the sand and take a dip in Lake Michigan.  If you are looking for something to do in Holland, Muskegon, or Grand Haven – this one is for you!  There are a ton of different sugar sand beaches for you to choose from, so you are sure to find one to fit your needs.

Michigan’s Adventure

Get ready for a roller coaster ride like no other at Michigan’s Adventure amusement park. Brace yourself for exhilarating twists, turns, and stomach-flipping drops. But don’t forget to scream and laugh along the way—after all, life is meant to be a wild ride!

Kids will enjoy the rides at Camp Snoopy that are tailored especially for the younger crowd.  If you need to cool down during your visit, make sure to get tickets to the WildWater Adventure Park where you will find water slides, three-wave pools, and Half Pint Paradise for the little ones.  This is a must-visit destination for things to do in Muskegon for your West Michigan summer bucket list!

Get Out and Camp

Visit with and Feed Some Animals

Did you know there are multiple places in West Michigan to get up and personal with some animals and can even feed them?  Visit one of these great places to check this off your West Michigan Summer bucket list!

  • Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park – Get up close and personal with animals and even feed some of them around Boulder Ridge Animal Park in Alto!  Hop aboard a safari vehicle to check out even more animals from afar.
  • Deer Tracks Junction – Visit and feed farm animals at Deer Tracks Junction in Cedar Springs.  New as of last year, take your car through the safari drive-through and let animals come up to you as you feed them from the comfort of your car.
  • Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo – Located in New Era, Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo lets you get up close and personal with their resident animals as well as providing many other activities for you and your family to enjoy.
  • John Ball Zoo – If you’d rather spectate from afar head over to John Ball Zoo to admire the animals from around the world.

White Caps Game

Spend a day at LMCU ballpark as you watch the West Michigan White Caps play ball!  The LMCU ballpark hosts many different events and promotions for games all season long.  Head over to their website and find one that fits your schedule! This makes for a great summer activity in Grand Rapids.

Enjoy a Summer Concert

What is better than enjoying the fresh air outdoors during summer in West Michigan?  Enjoying some great music with your family and friends of course!  Check out one of the many concerts presented by Fifth Third Bank at Fredrick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park this summer.  With an array of bands and genres to choose from, we are sure you will find at least one (but probably more) that you will want to attend!  Check out the full schedule and more information here.

Take a fishing charter on Lake Michigan

Summer in West Michigan means it’s time to head out to the Big Lake and take your turn at reeling in a Chinook aka King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout, and Lake Trout.  There are plenty of charters running out of Muskegon, Holland, and Grand Haven that can help check catching a big one off your bucket list!

Choose from public or private tours with transportation or a walking brewery tour when you book with GR beer tours in Beer City USA.  Travel around Grand Rapids and taste beer from many of the different breweries in Grand Rapids.  This is a perfect activity to add to your summer bucket list in West Michigan!
