Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park

Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. This 158-acre park features several gardens, including the Sunken Garden, which is home to over 10,000 different annuals, perennials, and bulbs. The park also has a beautiful Sunflower Festival every August, which is a must-visit for all sunflower enthusiasts. The festival features workshops, activities, and various sunflower varieties on display.

The Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is also home to a variety of sculptures that visitors can admire. If you travel there between March 1 and April 30 you may also catch their special exhibition: Butterflies are Blooming. At this special spring event, they’ll have free education and activities included with the park’s entry price! You can check their hours and rates here.

Spicier Orchards

While you cannot pick your own flowers here, you can still take a stroll through the beautiful land and fields of flowers. The whole farm has tons of activities and beautiful nature to observe while there. You can then purchase pre-cut flowers in the gift shop where there’s also fudge and other snacks or handmade gifts. Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo

Lewis Farms Flower Festival: August 4 to September 24

Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is located in New Era, Michigan and is a popular spot for families to visit. The farm has a wide range of activities, including a petting zoo, corn maze, and apple orchard. This farm also has a sunflower field that is open to the public every year. The field is filled with over 30,000 sunflowers and is a perfect place to take pictures or just stroll through.

The Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is also home to a variety of farm animals that visitors can interact with. My personal favorite animal you can visit here is the camel—so give give them some love after gazing at the variety of wildflower and sunflower fields!

Post Family Farm

Post Family Farm is a family-owned farm located in Hudsonville, Michigan. This farm has a variety of activities for visitors, including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and apple orchard. They also have a sunflower field that is open to the public every year, featuring over 15,000 sunflowers of different varieties. The farm also hosts a Sunflower Festival every August, which includes a corn roast, live music, and, of course, plenty of sunflowers. Visitors can also enjoy the farm’s produce, which includes apples, pumpkins, and a variety of vegetables. You may want to bring your kids to this sunflower field if you’re looking for some quirky experiences such as decorating the face of your own sunflower.

Grandpa’s Tiny Farm

While the original owner of Grandpa’s has passed, his wife and family love to honor the traditions he started back in 1938! This farm has activities every season and their sunflower field experience is nothing less than exceptional. In the springtime, you can visit and see many types of baby animals like ducklings, chicks, and more! There’s also a dining barn and small shopping area. Fortitude Farms and Events

Fortitude Farms is a breathtaking location for sunflower viewing and so much more. This location could be fun for families or a date night depending on the activities one gets into here! There’s so much variety—from a corn maze, corn hole, flower picking, or one of their garden date nights on the farm—the ideas are endless! You can even rent this space for events such as weddings and parties! Don’t miss out on this elegant and diverse location for all of your summer or even fall activities.

Schwallier’s Country Basket

Schwallier’s Country Basket is located in Sparta, Michigan and is a great destination for those looking to see sunflowers. The farm has a sunflower field that is open to the public every year, featuring over 7,000 sunflowers. Visitors can take a tractor ride around the farm, pick their own fruit, and enjoy a meal at the farm’s bakery. The farm also has a variety of farm animals that visitors can interact with. The farm season begins in August and runs through October.

Gorby Sunflowers

If you’re looking for the best of west Michigan sunflower fields, Gorby Fields needs to be on your list. They have acres of natural, gold-bursting flowers and paths to walk while taking in the scenery around you. Sunflower Festivals in West Michigan 2023

If you’re a fan of sunflowers, then west Michigan is the place to be in 2023! There are several sunflower festivals happening throughout the region, and they’re sure to be a hit with flower enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

Frankenmuth Flower Festival

This is located at one of our sunflower field locations listed above! Starting with u-pick sunflowers event, this festival kicks off strong with more than a little bit of fun. After picking your own flowers and building up an appetite, you can stay for the “Dinner in the Sunflowers.” You could also participate in the Sunflower Fun Color Run if that’s your speed. There’s also a craft and artisan showcase with tons of vendors. With a gorgeous view, dinner provided, and even sunflowers to take home, how can we say no to this amazing West Michigan Sunflower Festival?

Sunflower Days – Grand Haven

Sunflower Days in Grand Haven is a newer festival, but it’s quickly becoming a must-visit event. It is held at Gull Meadow Farms and the 2023 dates are still to be determined. In addition to acres of sunflowers, there’s also a beer garden, food trucks, and a craft fair. The festival is typically held in early August, so plan accordingly.

Blake’s Sunflower Festival – East Michigan

We did want to mention this newcomer sunflower festival as it looks very amazing! With over 100 vendors and different activities, this festival will run August 11 to 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. There will also be speakers, workshops, food, and much more at this new annual sunflower festival!


Off the Grid Views

Munsell Farms

Not much is known about this mysterious, off the grid location except it’s location and gorgeous flowers—as proven by the many pictures you can find on google maps. It’s located in Rock, Michigan and, while there isn’t a website, there is their Facebook account (linked above) if you have questions about visiting this beautiful western Michigan sunflower field.

Hall Farms

Similar to Munsell Farms, Hall Farms lets the beauty of their sunflowers do the talking and marketing for them! While their sunflowers are in bloom, they are open from 10 a.m. to sunset. If you have any questions you can check out their Facebook account (linked above) or call: (906) 359-4818.
