The Saugatuck Venetian Festival is a week-long celebration of summer that features a dazzling fireworks display over the Kalamazoo River. The reflections of the fireworks in the water add a touch of magic to an already enchanting event. Bring a blanket or a chair and find a spot at one of the great parks: Cook Park, Coghlin Park, Wade’s Bayou, and Wick’s Park. The website say; “The crowd-pleasing 1980s cover band “StarFarm” has been booked to perform again on Friday night of the festival. On Saturday, annual favorites include the dinghy poker run and the return of a lighted boat parade & fireworks. This year’s theme of Country Venetian will be on full display all weekend!”

Located on 80 acres of land, the Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park provides a unique, hands-on way to experience wildlife. Farmers Markets
Farmers Markets begin to reopen in the Spring and there are many must-see markets around West Michigan. Many not only offer fresh, locally grown produce but also handmade goods and delicious take-home food items. Below are just a few of the larger Farmer’s Markets, but make sure to check your local city page to see if and when theirs is available.
Fulton Street
Established in 1922, this Market has been serving the West Michigan community for 100 years. With roughly 118 outdoor booths and some additional inside booths, there is plenty to see and buy at this market. Main Market Season begins around the first week of May and goes through October. Market hours are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 am-2 pm. Parking is limited at the market, but additional parking can be found within walking distance of the Market.
Rockford
Located on South Main St. in Rockford Michigan, this farmer’s market opens for the season at the beginning of May and runs through October. Only open on Saturdays from 8 am-1 pm, make sure to stop down and get your fresh vegetables, fruits, baked goods, and more.
Holland
Located on 8th street in downtown Holland, this market opens for the season in the middle of May after Tulip Time. The market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am-2 pm. This Farmer’s Market offers fresh produce, baked goods, plants & flowers, and a food court.

Morel Mushroom Hunting
There are over 2,000 kinds of wild mushrooms in the mitten state, morels are among the safest. May is prime hunting month. Typical locations and signs include wooded areas, especially around dying or dead trees, sometimes in fields, landscaping mulch, and old orchards. They grow best in daytime temps of at least 50 degrees and nighttime temps of at least 40 degrees. Dampness is best for them to grow so with all these factors, springtime is perfect for them to thrive.
This festival takes place annually in early May. This year is the festival’s 65th round and it runs May 10-12. Enjoy a variety of events at this festival including; hunting for mushrooms, Blessing of the Jeeps, food of all kinds, concerts, kids’ events, a grand parade, and much more.

Outside of the smaller fenced-in area is a bigger fenced-in wooded area with off-leash trails for your dog to stretch their legs and go on an adventure. Grand Ravines is a must-see dog park in the Grand Rapids area.
The Rockford Dog Park is located just a short walk from downtown Rockford in a peaceful setting next to the river. The park features separate fenced-in spaces for both small and large dogs. There is no parking lot, so be sure to bring a leash for the walk from your parking spot to the park.

Ivanrest Church’s annual community Easter Eggstravaganza will be Saturday, April 19th at 10:30 AM. This family fun event will begin on the front lawn with an Easter egg hunt for kids ages 1-10. Following the egg hunt, join us in the West Wing for crafts, snacks, face painting and a special story time! Feel free to invite your family, friends, and neighbors.
Please join Chandler Woods for their annual Spring Egg Hunt on April 18th, for kids 12 and under. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park: Stage Plaza, families can take part in a variety of activities including the 24 Karrot Trail, where children under nine can scavenge for eggs containing candy or prizes.
A special “golden karrot” egg will even score some lucky kids a unique prize, according to a recent press release. But that’s not all the Easter bunny has in store. Every family in attendance will have the chance to snag an Easter basket full of goodies through a free drawing, with the winner announced at 7:40 p.m.

Thornapple’s favorite annual event of the year is back! Egg hunts are split into two sessions, A and B, starting at 9:30 and then 11am.
In 2022, they hid over 10,600 eggs on their property and handed out over 250 prizes. This is a free event, however they will be collecting donations ****if you feel led! All donations collected will go towards their summer camp program, Camp Thornapple. Funds will help subsidize the cost so kids can participate in classes at half the cost (or less!) of their value. Donations also help fully cover the cost for any child who wants to participate but can’t due to financial restraints.

The scramble will be held at Lamar Park on the soccer fields. This event is free for the community. The Easter Bunny will also be in attendance!
Registration opens at 10:00 AM. The first age group will start at 11:00 AM. Age groups will be split from 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-11 years old. We will have limited bags available for use on a first come, first serve basis.
