West Michigan is the perfect region for growing healthy foods. The climate is always conducent to strawberries, blueberries, and even apples! That’s why there’s an abundance of growers who offer u-pick patches and orchards. So, smear on a little sunscreen, grab a water bottle, and head out to some of the venues listed below!

Bonus: The variety of fruits guarantees that you’re busy throughout the different seasons, so you have plenty of time to enjoy each one. We’re concentrating on strawberries, blueberries, and throwing apples in for good measure! However, you can also find other types of fruit here in beautiful, bountiful, west Michigan!

Berries are a delicious way to add to your healthy diet, whether fresh or frozen. Washed berries can be stored in airtight containers in the freezer for a year, so you can enjoy them in the winter months, as well! Check out these pick farms in Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon Counties.

Be sure to call ahead! Most contact information is available on the websites, and each place can recommend the best time to visit so that you’ll get the ripest, most flavorful berries!

Strawberry Season and U-Pick Berries Venues

Strawberry season usually lasts from mid-June to mid-July in west Michigan and, depending on the weather and the proximity of the always-cooler Lake Michigan, there’s a difference throughout the region for the best time to harvest them. It’s recommended that you check prior to visiting the patches, as they can be picked over quite often during the season.

Also, make sure to keep the freshly picked fruit cool and out of the sun. Wash well with cold water and store them in the refrigerator until you want to enjoy them. They also make great snacks to nibble on later. Do this by freezing them on baking sheets and packing them in airtight containers for later use. Homemade strawberry jam is a great option, too!

Kent County

Krupp Farms: 8025 Krupp Avenue, Comstock Park, MI. This fourth-generation centennial farm is popular for their u-pick strawberries and raspberries. They also have a petting zoo, ice cream shop, and playground. While not a totally organic farm, they employ many ecologically friendly practices.

Muskegon County

Veenstras Family Farm: 8515 S. 200th Avenue, Holton, MI. A lovely drive into the countryside will take you to the family’s U-pick patch, which has been in operation for over 50 years. Check their Facebook page to pick dates and times.

Ottawa County

Visser Farms: 7200 112th Avenue, Holland, MI. In 1902, Dutch immigrants Marinus and Maria Staal settled on muck land that possesses rich, black soil. They built a homestead and barns and began living their dream with their two children. In the mid 1920s, their daughter and her husband continued the dream and renamed the Visser Farm farm. Their ten children have carried on the tradition and stewardship of the land, using biological and natural disease prevention solutions as much as possible.

Blueberry Season and U-Pick Berries Venues

Who doesn’t love blueberries? With over 30 varieties grown in our beautiful region, this popular summer berry is one of the state’s most productive crops. Blueberry season usually runs from July through September and sometimes longer.

Many farms welcome you to “pick your own” and enjoy the adventure of a fun farm experience. Remember that frozen blueberries are almost as good a fresh —throw them in muffins and pancakes on a cold winter morning to bring back the fun memories you made in the summer.

Kent County

• Heritage Blueberry Farm: 12151 Stebbins, Sparta, MI. This place offers three wonderful acres of u-pick blueberries and a picnic area. It is a quiet place to establish a family tradition and to harvest some lasting memories along with healthy blueberries!

Muskegon County

Palmer’s Blueberries: 4099 Dame Road, Whitehall, MI 49461. A fun drive to Whitehall will take you to Palmer’s blueberry farm, which has been in business for 50 years. Bring a lunch and enjoy their picnic area, and browse their other blueberry products for sale —including preserves, blueberry syrup, blueberry mustard, and blueberry BBQ sauce.

Ottawa County

Reenders Blueberry Farms: 9981 West Olive rd (US 31), West Olive, MI. With 800 acres of land, the Reenders Farm offers 12 varieties of blueberries for u-pick customers. Their new store carries something for everyone. In addition to fresh blueberries, other local fruits (when available), such as raspberries, cherries, and peaches, await. They also have many flavors of jam, honey, and syrup. Not enough? Don’t forget your Michigan souvenir, their famous blueberry pie, some muffins, candy, shirts, scented air sprays, canned fruit and vegetables, gourmet flavored caramel corn, a large selection of seasonings, spreads, dips, and of course, replica Reenders toy semi-trucks, and more!

Apple Season and U-Pick Orchards

Okay, so apples aren’t technically a berry, but they are very popular as a U-pick adventure! And, unlike berries, they can be stored in a cool, dry, dark place for weeks. Countless varieties are available, and apple harvest begins in late summer until snow falls. Get our full list here!

Fruit Ridge Farm: 11966 Fruit Ridge NW, Kent City, MI. Located just minutes northwest of Grand Rapids, in the heart of Michigan’s fruit-growing region, known as “The Ridge.” On The Ridge, you’ll find an abundance of apple orchards, farm markets, and cider mills. The proximity of ‘The Ridge’ to Lake Michigan, combined with the rolling hills and heavy clay soil, make this an ideal place to grow apples and other fruit! Hayrides, a corn maze, and more complement the U-pick experience.
Grange Avenue Market and Upick Orchard: 1900 13 Mile Road Northeast, Rockford, MI 49341. Offering honeycrisp apples, the most sought-after variety, along with Brookfield Gala, JonaGold, and Rising Sun Fuji! They even provide the buckets and bags for ease in picking!

Muskegon County

Dietrichs Harvest Basket: 17485 Apple Avenue, Casnovia, MI. Lots of u-pick options ranging from asparagus to blueberries and sweet corn to peaches, apples, and pumpkins. Not to mention, this place is a solid contender with wagon rides, picnic areas, and a petting zoo!
Kooistra Orchards: 11694 S. Maple Island Rd., Twin Lake, MI. Technically in Newaygo County, Kooistra Orchards has been a favorite of local families and neighbors who love their pick of tasty and fresh apples since 2008. Many families have been enjoying the Kooistra Orchards for generations.

Ottawa County

DK Orchards: 18203 8th Ave, Conklin, MI. Enjoy a variety of produce, with apples being the main fruit they grow. Their wide varieties range from Gala to McIntosh, Empire, Jonathan, Northern Spy, Red Delicious, Early Fuji, Snow Sweet, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Ida Red, and Honeycrisp! You can also pick peaches and blueberries while picking up pumpkins, gourds, corn, and other vegetables.
Crane Orchards: 6054 124^th Ave., Fennville, MI. This u-pick farm not only has u-pick apples, peaches, and cherries, but it also offers the chance to ride a cow train! Their 20-acre corn maze is one of the biggest around. New this year is a magical holiday drive-through light show, coming in November. With a mile of lit winter wonderland, experience the orchard like never before and enjoy holiday magic from the comfort of your car.

Dive into the art, explore creative ideas and enjoy an engaging experience for all ages!

The Nature of Sculpture: The Nature of Sculpture is the first exhibition to explore the artist’s deep engagement with the natural world as source, subject and site for his art. Working in multiple media, formats, and scales, David Smith’s adventurous approach to three-dimensional form has permanently expanded the vocabulary and range of sculptural practice. Celebrated as the first American artist to make welded metal sculptures—and to incorporate industrial means in his work—Smith’s early enlistment of nature as a material and prime setting for his art was equally innovative. Spanning his full career and featuring major museum loans, the exhibition will include some 40 sculptures, along with related paintings, reliefs, and works on paper to reclaim the primacy of nature within the artist’s richly inventive oeuvre. This exploration of sculpture and nature will have particularly strong resonance at Meijer Gardens, where Smith’s work will be in direct dialogue with the natural environs, including larger pieces situated outdoors to commune with the elements as the artist intended.

Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming

March 1—April 30 (Member early hours for butterflies are Sundays, 9-11AM)

A guest favorite, Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the United States featuring butterflies from three tropical zones: Asia, Central and South America, and Africa. More than 60 species of butterflies and moths take flight in the 15,000-square-foot Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory. Throughout the exhibition, butterflies can be viewed drinking nectar from flowering plants and feeding stations, flying freely within the five-story tropical conservatory. The blue common morpho, clearwing and Atlas moth—with its impressive 6-to-12-inch wingspan—are expected to make appearances.

Approximately 1,000 chrysalides are delivered to Meijer Gardens weekly. Visitors may watch delicate chrysalides and cocoons being placed in the Observation Station, where the unique creatures transform and take their first flight.

Hemlocks Crossing Ottawa County Parks and& Recreation Nature Center

Hemlock Crossing is home to West Michigan’s first public observatory. This outdoor nature center offers guided nature and recreational programs every season. The naturalist guides are ready to spread curiosity and wisdom! Snowshoeing and school programs are just a few of the events happening here. You can also find a library of online programs that bring nature to you! Each in-depth class helps you to explore different habitats in Michigan.

Sarrett Nature Center

Sarett Nature Center has over eight miles of trails, including boardwalks, observation platforms, and an easily accessible, barrier-free walkway. Trails running along the Paw Paw River bluffs offer beautiful views of the river valley. This unique nature center occupies 1,000 acres of southwestern Michigan’s Berrien County. This area will give you an up-close look at wetland wildlife and habitats including wet forests, cattail marshes, and a unique alkaline wetland called a fen. Pond study, maple sugaring, dune and river exploration, natural communities, and winter ecology are just a few of the classes they offer.

Blanford Nature Center

A full calendar of events, a farm, and a learning lab are just a few reasons why Blanford Nature Center is always fun to explore. Visiting Blanford Nature Center gives you access to 264 acres of forests, meadows, and wetlands. It also includes 8 eight miles of trails, including one mile of all-accessible trails, two outdoor playscapes, the Blandford Farm and Children’s Garden, and a Wildlife Education Center.

Outdoor Discover Center

Outdoor Discovery Center offers an inquiry-based style of programming that allows students to learn about and experience nature, hands-on. All ages and audiences will find something interesting here! The 100-acre diverse ecosystem of ponds, remnant dunes, wetlands, meadows, remnant prairie, and lowland hardwood forests are waiting to be explored.

Degraff Nature Center

600 Graafschap Rd, Holland, MI 49423

The DeGraaf Nature Center is an 18 -acre nature preserve of meadows, upland forests, lowland forests, marshes, and ponds. Some other cool highlights include a geology trail, picnic spots, and a log cabin. Many of the trails on the property are wheelchair, stroller, and wagon-friendly. Take a trip to the DeGraaf Nature Center to view animals including reptiles, amphibians, and owls, or you can sit quietly by the stream observing wildlife.

Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center

Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center has so much to offer. This Nature Center provides nature-related experiences and activities that appeal to all ages and audiences. Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park

This is a great place for fun and exciting outdoor adventures no matter the season. Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park possesses one of the only three luge tracks in the United States. What makes it extra special is that it’ is specifically designed to introduce beginners to the sport of luge! Visit in the winter to learn to luge like an olympian on a real ice luge track or Zip Line, and try ice skating, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. If you visit in the warmer months, be sure to check out the 1/4 mile dune-top double zip line, rock climbing, archery, and more! Calvin Ecosystem Preserve and Native Gardens

The Calvin Ecosystem Preserve and& Native Gardens is a one-of-a-kind oasis in the city of Grand Rapids. This preserve occupies over 100 acres of native plants and natural habitats. It’ is easy to appreciate and connect with nature while wandering its pleasant trails. You can explore the native gardens, and bunker interpretive center, or enroll in a class or educational program. This incredible resource is open to all who wish to join us as we conserve, restore, protect, and appreciate the wonder of creation.

Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center

6585 Lake Harbor Rd, Norton Shores, MI 49441

The Gillette Visitor Center is located in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. You’ will find this gorgeous spot is nestled among one of the nation’s most impressive dune systems. Inside the Visitor Center are dioramas, an animation station, and an interactive video station. The Gillette Sand Dune Visitor Center also includes a classroom with seasonal live animal displays and an auditorium where an audiovisual presentation orients visitors to the park and its surrounding sand dunes. There’ is a half-mile Lake Michigan Trail that goes up and over the park’s sheltered backdune forest and leads out to reveal a stunning view of Lake Michigan.

Kalamazoo Nature Center

There’ is always something new to do at KNC! With monthly programs for kids and adults and over 14 miles of luscious hiking trails that wind through some of the most special habitats in Michigan. The Kalamazoo Nature Center is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire people to care for the environment by providing experiences that lead them to understand their connection to the natural world.

Leslie Science and Nature Center

Leslie Science & Nature Center offers a gateway to hands-on discovery and exploration of the natural world. This nature center provides an eclectic mix of programs and exhibits.! Admire plants and animals while exploring the raptor enclosure loop, playscapes Black Pond Woods, and more!

Howard Christensen Nature Center (HCNC)

16190 Red Pine Dr. NW, Kent City, MI 49330

Howard Christensen Nature Center is located in Northern Kent County and has 135 acres of natural ecosystems. HCNC is a refuge for a wide range of plants and wildlife. The Nature Center provides miles of trails and programs geared towards all ages. Their mission is to increase awareness of environmental concerns and encourage individuals to maintain Earth’s ecology. There are hundreds of animal displays, an animal resource center, 35 million-year-old fossils, a timberland playground, picnic tables, a rain garden, and camping programs. You can also meet Penelope, the Vietnamese pot belly, Saraha the African side-neck turtle, Matilda the Russian tortoise, Cambria the corn snake, and Tuck the map turtle.

An exciting way to gain appreciation and knowledge of the natural world is to take part in guided hikes, travel programs, canoeing and kayaking adventures, wildlife programs, wildflower walks, and naturalist-led programs. Kayak at Millenium Park

The DeVos Family Boathouse offers kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards for rent. Boaters can explore the lake surrounding the beach and recreation area and paddle under the trail bridge to get to Lake Leota to the north. Combined, these lakes cover a total of about 100 acres with nearly four miles of shoreline to explore. This is a great way to appreciate Michigan’s wonderful waters.

Take a Family Trip to Robinette’s Apple Haus and Winery

Robinette’s Apple Haus is open year-round, but the cherries start getting ripe by the end of June. Starting in July, you can pick delicious apples, peaches, and cherries right off of the tree. You’ll also find nature trails, a corn maze, a hayride, a petting zoo, a jumping pillow (an air-filled pillow, which is permanently installed in the ground), and wine tasting. Robinette’s may be known for its cider and donuts, but now you know they also offer a fully operational winery right on their property! Let Your Creativity Flow at I’m An Artist Community Studio

When you walk into this creative space it feels like a dream. In this calm and inviting room, art supplies of all kinds decorate the walls and there’s a plethora of table space just waiting for you to start creating. This open studio is donation based and intended for all ages and abilities. There are always different ideas and prompts provided to help spark your creativity. Drop into the studio every Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visit the Farm at Blandford Nature Center

It comes as no surprise that Blandford Nature Center made the Wander West Michigan’s list of Top Things To Do in Grand Rapids. This amazing nature center has so much going on. There’s more to explore than just a farm! Blandford’s Wildlife Education Center is home to many rehabilitated animals that are no longer able to survive in the wild. Here you’ll find hiking trails located in the beautiful woods and all kinds of events and classes. A few of the happenings include a Wildlife Care Experience, date night hikes, outdoor yoga, and family workshops!

Best Beach Hikes in West Michigan

West Michigan is home to one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, Lake Michigan. With that comes some amazing beach hiking trails that showcase the lake, the nature that surrounds it, and the communities that call it home. Below is a list of some of the best beach hiking trails in West Michigan.

White Pine Trail

The longest trail in the Mitten state is right in West Michigan. The White Pine Trail is 92 miles long and runs from Cadillac to Comstock Park, with many businesses and fun things to do along the way. This paved trail offers beautiful views along with bike shops, restaurants, taverns, and hotels along the route. Enjoy wooded areas, bridges, fields, and so much more! Stop in some of the cities it runs through and see what they have to offer. Peek at the Rockford Farmer’s Market and grab some fresh, local food to chow on at one of the picnic areas offered along the route or stop in Belmont for ice cream. Grand Haven

Lakeshore Trail

Head over to Lakeshore Trail which is a 20-mile paved path that runs parallel to the west Michigan lakeshore all the way to Holland State Park. Travel through three Ottawa county beach parks and naturel areas. Rosy Mound Natural Area, Kirk Park, and Tunnel Park have so much to offer! The trail also follows a ridge of rolling dunes, beautiful tree lines, and much more. Explore this trail today!

Grand Haven Beach Walk

Looking for a short loop trail for a quick trip? Grand Haven Beach Walk is about one-and-a-half miles and is easily completed in just over 30 minutes. Stroll along the Grand Haven Beach, mosey towards the pier, and check out the lighthouse. Take this quick hike and spend your day at the beach enjoying the spectacular views and glistening water.

Warren Dunes State Park

Warren Dunes State Park offers a variety of trails with differing distances and views. The major plus side is that all of the trails are listed as moderate hikes. This means you get to challenge yourself a bit, while still not pushing yourself to the extreme. See the list of available trails below.

Warren Dunes Trail: This trail takes just over an hour and a half to complete and is just under 5 miles in length.
Warren Dunes Beach Trail: About 3.6 miles in length, this trail takes an estimated hour and 14 minutes to complete.
Mount Randall Loop: This trail is about a 58-minute hike consisting of 2.1 miles of stunning views!
Sandy Woods Dune Hike: Complete this mile-and-a-half of trails in just over 30 minutes!

Rosy Mountain Natural Area

Spend the day at Rosy Mountain Natural Area and enjoy hiking trails and boardwalks. Make your way to the swimming beach (walk to beach is strenuous), and hike up the stairways and deck to views of Lake Michigan. Bring your favorite foods and snacks and utilize the picnic tables and grills along the route. With modern restrooms near parking and rustic restrooms near beach, it’s a win-win for families with little ones. The trail to the shoreline is less than a mile followed by the 1000 feet of stairs up and down the dunes. For a different route, stroll down the dune boardwalk trail near the beach.

Saugatuck

Dunes State Park

With four different trails that total about 13 miles, you can enjoy as much or as little hiking as you choose at Dunes State Park. Labeled by different colors, the trails offered and their lengths are listed below.

Saugatuck Dunes Beach Trail is marked yellow and is one-and-a-half miles long.
Saugatuck Dunes Livingston Trail is marked red and is two-and-a-half miles long.
Saugatuck Dunes North Trail marked white and is two-and-a-half miles long.
Saugatuck Dunes South Trail is marked blue and is fine-and-a-half miles long.

The park also features a two mile mountain bike trail, a disc golf course, and other outdoor recreation opportunities.

Holland

Tunnel Park

Take a light stroll down the 480 foot paved path to Tunnel Beach and 240 foot sloped sand to Lake Michigan . If you’re looking for a different view or can’t make it down the sloped sand to the beach, head up the dune stairway and enjoy breath-taking scenic views of Lake Michigan. Make sure to check out the unique tunnel through a dune to the beach. The park does include a parking fee from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The fee is $8 per day or annual permits are available for purchase.

Muskegon

Muskegon State Park

This state park offers six different trails ranging from just under one mile to five miles. Choose how many you want to enjoy during your trip. The trails are listed below.

Lost Lake Trail: Three Quarters of a Mile
Devil’s Kitchen Trail: One Mile
Scenic Ridge Trail: One-and-a-Quarter Mile
Dune Ridge Trail: One and Three Quarters of a Mile
Hearty Hiker Trail: One and Three Quarters of a Mile
Loop to Loop Trail: Five Miles

Grand Rapids

Lake Leota Trail is just over four miles, is considered a super easy route, and is usually completed in just over an hour. It offers fishing, as well as hiking, along route. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Plus, there’s a paved walk with beach access! Benches and picnic tables are available along the route for breaks and snacks, so don’t worry about needing to take a breather!

Sandy Hansen Shoreline is a relatively short loop of about one-and-a-half miles, and is easily completed in about 30 minutes. It’s popular for hiking, road biking, and trail running. The trail is open year round and dog friendly, as long as your furry friend is leashed. The paved loop links to several other trails that may increase the length of your trip, if you decide you’re having too much fun to leave! Most sections are gentle grade but watch out because there are a couple of moderately steep sections.

Fennville

South Swan Creek Loop Trail is just over a five-and-a-half-mile loop and considered fairly easy. The average the complete the full route takes about two hours. This trail is a popular spot for birding, camping, and hiking.

Nothing beats the stunning beauty of sunflowers. Standing tall and bold, sunflowers are the perfect symbol of Spring and Summer—of the world coming back to life. West Michigan has a wide range of locations where you can see these vibrant flowers in full bloom. As usual, Wander West Michigan has done the hard work for you!

Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park

Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. This 158-acre park features several gardens, including the Sunken Garden, which is home to over 10,000 different annuals, perennials, and bulbs. The park also has a beautiful Sunflower Festival every August, which is a must-visit for all sunflower enthusiasts. The festival features workshops, activities, and various sunflower varieties on display.

The Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is also home to a variety of sculptures that visitors can admire. If you travel there between March 1 and April 30 you may also catch their special exhibition: Butterflies are Blooming. At this special spring event, they’ll have free education and activities included with the park’s entry price! You can check their hours and rates here.

Spicier Orchards

While you cannot pick your own flowers here, you can still take a stroll through the beautiful land and fields of flowers. The whole farm has tons of activities and beautiful nature to observe while there. You can then purchase pre-cut flowers in the gift shop where there’s also fudge and other snacks or handmade gifts. Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo

Lewis Farms Flower Festival: August 4 to September 24

Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is located in New Era, Michigan and is a popular spot for families to visit. The farm has a wide range of activities, including a petting zoo, corn maze, and apple orchard. This farm also has a sunflower field that is open to the public every year. The field is filled with over 30,000 sunflowers and is a perfect place to take pictures or just stroll through.

The Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is also home to a variety of farm animals that visitors can interact with. My personal favorite animal you can visit here is the camel—so give give them some love after gazing at the variety of wildflower and sunflower fields!

Post Family Farm

Post Family Farm is a family-owned farm located in Hudsonville, Michigan. This farm has a variety of activities for visitors, including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and apple orchard. They also have a sunflower field that is open to the public every year, featuring over 15,000 sunflowers of different varieties. The farm also hosts a Sunflower Festival every August, which includes a corn roast, live music, and, of course, plenty of sunflowers. Visitors can also enjoy the farm’s produce, which includes apples, pumpkins, and a variety of vegetables. You may want to bring your kids to this sunflower field if you’re looking for some quirky experiences such as decorating the face of your own sunflower.

Grandpa’s Tiny Farm

While the original owner of Grandpa’s has passed, his wife and family love to honor the traditions he started back in 1938! This farm has activities every season and their sunflower field experience is nothing less than exceptional. In the springtime, you can visit and see many types of baby animals like ducklings, chicks, and more! There’s also a dining barn and small shopping area. Fortitude Farms and Events

Fortitude Farms is a breathtaking location for sunflower viewing and so much more. This location could be fun for families or a date night depending on the activities one gets into here! There’s so much variety—from a corn maze, corn hole, flower picking, or one of their garden date nights on the farm—the ideas are endless! You can even rent this space for events such as weddings and parties! Don’t miss out on this elegant and diverse location for all of your summer or even fall activities.

Schwallier’s Country Basket

Schwallier’s Country Basket is located in Sparta, Michigan and is a great destination for those looking to see sunflowers. The farm has a sunflower field that is open to the public every year, featuring over 7,000 sunflowers. Visitors can take a tractor ride around the farm, pick their own fruit, and enjoy a meal at the farm’s bakery. The farm also has a variety of farm animals that visitors can interact with. The farm season begins in August and runs through October.

Gorby Sunflowers

If you’re looking for the best of west Michigan sunflower fields, Gorby Fields needs to be on your list. They have acres of natural, gold-bursting flowers and paths to walk while taking in the scenery around you. Sunflower Festivals in West Michigan 2023

If you’re a fan of sunflowers, then west Michigan is the place to be in 2023! There are several sunflower festivals happening throughout the region, and they’re sure to be a hit with flower enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.

Frankenmuth Flower Festival

This is located at one of our sunflower field locations listed above! Starting with u-pick sunflowers event, this festival kicks off strong with more than a little bit of fun. After picking your own flowers and building up an appetite, you can stay for the “Dinner in the Sunflowers.” You could also participate in the Sunflower Fun Color Run if that’s your speed. There’s also a craft and artisan showcase with tons of vendors. With a gorgeous view, dinner provided, and even sunflowers to take home, how can we say no to this amazing West Michigan Sunflower Festival?

Sunflower Days – Grand Haven

Sunflower Days in Grand Haven is a newer festival, but it’s quickly becoming a must-visit event. It is held at Gull Meadow Farms and the 2023 dates are still to be determined. In addition to acres of sunflowers, there’s also a beer garden, food trucks, and a craft fair. The festival is typically held in early August, so plan accordingly.

Blake’s Sunflower Festival – East Michigan

We did want to mention this newcomer sunflower festival as it looks very amazing! With over 100 vendors and different activities, this festival will run August 11 to 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. There will also be speakers, workshops, food, and much more at this new annual sunflower festival!

Off the Grid Views

Munsell Farms

Not much is known about this mysterious, off the grid location except it’s location and gorgeous flowers—as proven by the many pictures you can find on google maps. It’s located in Rock, Michigan and, while there isn’t a website, there is their Facebook account (linked above) if you have questions about visiting this beautiful western Michigan sunflower field.

Hall Farms

Similar to Munsell Farms, Hall Farms lets the beauty of their sunflowers do the talking and marketing for them! While their sunflowers are in bloom, they are open from 10 a.m. to sunset. If you have any questions you can check out their Facebook account (linked above) or call: (906) 359-4818.
