Field & Fire Bakery

435 Ionia Avenue, Grand Rapids

This wood-fired bakery will open your eyes to rustic and traditional flavors. They practice “lengthy fermentation” with a sourdough starter that draws out the flavor from locally-sourced grains and enhances the nutritional value of the baked goods they offer. Mixing most of the dough by hand, in small batches, allows them to use regular organic flour, as opposed to high-gluten flour. They feature Tordu, a baguette that is fermented and baked longer, producing a hearty flavor. Their Herbed Green Olive Bread is exclusive to the bakery and will make an olive lover out of anyone. Their croissant flavors span sweet to savory, and of course, their wood-fired pizzas are sold by the slice and often sold out instantly.
