Holland Arts Council

The Holland Arts Council is a treasure you don’t want to leave behind. Almost 60 years ago now, this studio was founded to create a supportive community system for the growing artist’s scene in West Michigan. It grew into an amazing organization that not only provides guidance and support for artists in exhibitions, initiatives and more but also – they educate the community! Visit this spot by signing up for a workshop, seeing a show or going to an event. Workshops are for adults and youth and vary from free to other prices – you can check their schedule here!

Mainstreet Beanery

This adorable and lesser-known coffee spot doesn’t shy away from humor or great coffee! The Mainstreet Beanery is a great local coffee shop, ready to be your cozy comfort during your Holland visit! They have a vast menu, are easily accessible to order online here, and are a wonderful community. If you’re looking to experience a local staple, this is definitely a place you have to visit. So go grab a cup of joe, a snack and a friend to check out this caffeinated hidden treasure. 

Deboer Bakkerij

This bakery is a MUST for travelers everywhere! With four generations of bakers, and new locations that also serve lunch and breakfast food – you KNOW these pastries and more are going to make your tastebuds soar! They also have coffee and other types of unique baked goods, like artisan breads, cookies and more. If you’re looking for treasure you can take home with you from your trip to Holland, you found the pot of gold.

Daddios Carryouts

Just by the name, you can tell this find is a unique culinary sensation. Their menu consists of specials and rotating menus. You can always pick from a chicken, fish or rib main dish with a side of yams, Green beans, Collard greens, Butternut squash, Mashed potatoes, Macaroni and cheese. If you were looking for comfort food, this is the place for you to visit first. Not only do they serve your hunger, but they serve your heart! Historical

The Felt Estate

This estate began with a love story, when its owner Dorr Felt had it built for his wife, Agnes,  in 1925. What’s wonderful about this estate is that it does not stand isolated from the community. Not only is it dedicated to sustainability, being dubbed a certified LEED-EB Gold recipient – which basically means they get a gold start for caring about the environment! They are also connected to the community in volunteering and connecting with local businesses and organizations. One more unique thing to note for the future: they also do haunted tours in the fall! So not only can you get your history in, but also a bit of mystery as well. One of our favorite hidden gems in Holland!

Holland Museum

If you are a lover of Deustch history, which visiting Holland you likely are, then the Holland Museum needs to be on your radar! They have several exhibits dedicated to culture and the history of the city as well as arts, events and workshops. They even feature the Spark Lab kids program straight from the Smithsonian itself. Don’t miss out on the rich history that’s as vibrant as its tulips, make sure to visit Holland Museum!

The Bridge

Do you love gift shops as well as finding cool items that are ethically sourced? The Bridge is Holland’s very own Fairtrade certified gift shop, perfect for all the green-minded travelers that may venture into the area. This artisan shop connects crafters from all over the world, tells their stories, and sells their beautiful items so that they can build a better life for themselves. You can find anything from clothing, accessories, journals and more! Off the Grid

Do you love discovering things before others do? As its name entails, this off-the-grid vintage shop is last but CERTAINLY not least on our list. The mission, according to their site, is: Sustainability, Wellness and Spirituality. Their clothing and accessories are a diverse range of styles, mixes of neutrals and pops of 80s-inspired color. They also carry vintage sportswear, toys, and probably more they don’t mention so that visitors can have surprise finds when they come for a visit from far away.
